Re: Whisky tasting 15.6.17 7:30pm £20 Edinburgh

In a further chapter of this saga another bottle has popped up. I got the Ledaig for a small private tasting but with 20 people coming to this tasting I need more liquid than is left in the Ledaig, although there are more in the shop but as my colleague Neil took a limited cask strength port cask Fi...

Re: Whisky tasting 15.6.17 7:30pm £20 Edinburgh

So since the Garnheath came on the scene the menu was a bit lopsided towards light. I've decided to take out one of the 3 mystery drams in exchange for the freshly released new sherry cask NAS Bunnahabhain. Many thanks to the right. Honourable Sir Neil of Hamilton for muleing this back from Islay (e...

Any one visiting Glen Ord?

I'd like to acquire a bottle of Glen Ord 12yo for a tasting but I think it can only be got at the distillery - if anyone is going could they do me a favour and get a bottle - I work on Edinburgh's Royal Mile - or perhaps posting could be an option.

Cheers

Re: Whisky tasting 15.6.17 7:30pm £20 Edinburgh

Well, the super rare drams continue - I've just been offered a bottle of Garnheath 26yo single grain from the long closed Moffat complex. Too good an opportunity to turn down but ticket price will go up to £23 as it broke the budget somewhat. I believe only 14 casks of this whisky have ever been bot...

Re: Royal Mile Whiskies Tasting Prog. Feb/Mar

So the last tasting featured the role played by yeast in the production process of whisk(e)y. Very interesting it was too. I'm particularly keen that the copious notes I made are compiled into a cohesive overview of the science and influence by this oft over looked link in the chain. We tried the Sw...

For the cask influenced dram we'll have Arran Amarone 46%. When it first came out I wasn't too convinced but this latest expression is much more appealing.

Bearing in mind until Strathearn released 3yo this year we had tried an example from every distillery in Scotland that has bottled its make si...

The last tasting was a bit wobbly - I broke a golden rule (twice) never pour without first trying. Oh well. Only about 15 of us attended which is a bit rubbish as we've been enjoying good attendances since we dropped to a once every 3 and not 2 weeks schedule. We started with Dramfool's 21yo Tobermo...

I was told by a doctor if you can go without alcohol for a few days in a row you're not an alcoholic. I'm not sure how true that it, but it is encouraging for those of us who worry about our consumption but can still abstain for a few days at a time.
