Re: What are you drinking now?

I brought home and opened a Bowmore Legend tonight. Nothing like the mess that was bottled three years ago. This is simply smoky with honey buttered biscuits. i think I'll have to put this new range back on my radar and try the 12 and 15. Thats good news, good Bowmore can be very good. Tonight I ha...

Re: What are you drinking now?

Decided to pour some lagavulin 16 from an old 20cl bottle. Was surprised to find it paler than I remembered and on nosing noted that where there should be peat there was fruit, grapefruit infact. Took a taste and got grass and fruit, a short refreshing finish of grapefruit and hay. Wasn't Lagavulin ...

Tea, whilst taking a look at the site that shant be named. There are a lot of good people there and it seems those that may have gone over the top whilst on here recognise that they went too far. Seems unlikely to me that there will be many over here to stir up trouble and if there were you can alwa...

I already stopped smoking a few weeks back.I may aim not to drink more than 4 pints in a session, beer is pricey and hangovers are such a waste of precious time.

Re: The credit crunch & your whisky budget

At my current rate of drinking the bottles I have open should last beyond the current downturn so I'm not buying or reading up on the newer products. However I am very much enjoying the prospect of slowly working through my stockpile, there's a massive range of malts there due to the numerous swaps ...

No but if you can find people stupid enough to pay that kind of money then get on and relieve them of as much of it as you can. Good luck.

She always hated the smell of whisky so a dram usually ensured a peaceful nights sleep even if I didnt want one. Not sure that I'd be keen to find a partner with a passion for whisky, selfish indulgence is a real pleasure and the prospect of living with someone who encouraged me to drink more regula...

Longrow 94 as an aperitif, lovely aroma, I'd happily sit and warm the glass just sniffing this all night long but I'm always enticed into drinking. Quite lively on the pallette with a long fruity peaty oily finish. Hell of a classy!

A 13 year old OMC Lochside 91 from a 20cl bottle. The cap had somehow broken itself so it had been breathing far more than it ought.Seemed to have lost the fruit and complexity you normally get from Lochside.Reduced to something merely warming and a little sweet.

Wasn't there something about the box opening also? I have a bottle which I thought was old stock but I'm not so sure now.
