Re: Need Help Finding a Glenfiddich Snow Phoenix Please

Grabbed the last one at my local LCBO in Oakville last night, it is was in the gift section and not back on the "Whisky Shop" Wall. This store has a bang up selection of Single Malts.

Re: What's your latest bottle kill?

Mine was a Johnny Walker Black, followed immediately by a Red... really just an effort to polish them off and get them out of my cabinet to make room for some better liquids

Re: The Senses and Whisky Enjoyment

I cracked a new bottle last night and as I poured it into the glass it made the typical pouring splash against the glass sound... more typcial of pouring say juice or water. I was just using a standard juice glass and I probably poured it from higher then I normally would have, but I definitely noti...

Wow thanks for all the responses, very insightful.

These said I think at my early stage of exploring SMS, my money is likely better spend elsewhere... good to know.

Glenrothes

What are people's takes on Glenrothes? I was at a scotch specialty shop the other day and was listening in on one of the employees speaking to an avid customer (guessing he was avid by the collection of bottles in his cart). The customer had two bottles of Glenrothes in his card including one that w...

Re: What are you drinking now?

While taking an inventory of my liquor cabinet before my New Years festivities tonight and my liquor store run I found a dusty black cannister in the back... upon closer look turns out it was an unopened bottle of Highland Park 15. I was thinking of grabbing some HP 12 at the store to give it a try ...

Re: One from Each Region

Wow thanks for the all the great suggestions. I will definitely switch out the Talisker for now infavour of the HP 12. TTD: The LCBO website shows a lot of the smaller sizes which is great but I find them very hard to come by in my region. Pretty much only minis of glenfiddich 12 and glen livet 12 o...

Thanks, the only Japanese I have come across at any of my local liqour stores are the Yamazaki or the Nikka... they have a small 300ml of the Nikka which is about $40.

One from Each Region

I am starting my scotch journey and I would like to sample some from each region. As of now I have primarily had whisky from the Speyside region (Glenfiddich 12, Glen Livet 12, Balvenie 15), but I really want to start my collection as well as see the differences in regions. I have a budget of around...

Re: What is your most recent (whisky) purchase.

Glen Livet 12... was at the store for other things and just grabbed it on the way by. Good to try against the Fiddich 12 Special Reserve I have already and see what arguably the two largest brands (in North America anyway) have on each other Both are also pretty mild and good to give to guests durin...

Re: Need help deciding whisky

Take this with a grain of salt as I am a newbie also, but after having some Glenfiddich 12 as my first single malt, I recently tried some Balvenie 15 single cask. Not sure if this is considered a begginer, intermediate etc level but I did find it to be very good. More complex then the fiddich 12, bu...

Re: Need help deciding whisky

I am also new to the world of single malts, but I have had my fair share of Crown and other Rye whiskys... in Canada you are pretty much garaunteed to have tried Crown, Canadian Club, Wisers, Gibson's etc. I can tell you that Crown is very sweet compared to the others I mentioned, and Southern Comfo...

Where to Next - Newbie Advice

Hi Folks, New around here and pretty new to the wonders of whisky. Started with JW Black which perked my interest in the liquid. Have some Glenfiddich 12 that is decent, received it as a gift. Also tried some Balvenie 15 single cask (at a lounge, ordered by a colleague). Of the very limit types I've...

A bit late to the table but for anyone stumbling on this thread now (as I just did), then Gibson's Finest Rare 18 yo is a tasty Canadian
