not very attinent but...Spirit of Islay I've alreadya sked this but considering your huge knowledge about everything about Islay have you got any chance to know why there never was a 1971 OB single cask Ardbeg? (what happened during those 70-71 years? the closure of caol ila 72-74 played a part?) Th...

Imho very expensive bottling are NEVER an investement. Real affairs are the bottles cheap that one day will become rare and sought after. I were you I consider to store some cases of Glendronach 15 and Ardbeg 10. Then buy some Port Ellen considering that with the passing of years will be more rare t...

I'd suggest a 1968 Bowmore from DT,
not too expensive and quite good...
Another option might be a Glenfarclas always good

Honestly I'm pretty happy with that. I consider ebay the paradise of forgery... I never liked their statement that you buy just the container...Too easy... It's just my opinion, but to buy nice bottles there're very nice and serious shops(mara...wagner...bar metrò...la maison, royal miles, whiskyex...

This discussion remoinds me of a thing I wrote once in a thread... Provided that this is not more applicable to old bottles, i return to ask why distilleries do not improve a way to avoid bottles forgery? I mean on high end bottles only(just think about new auchentoschan or new black bowmore or high...

I just noticed that a campaign against fraudster has also started on whiskyfun site. Anyway call me extremist but I think that the sale ...

Provided that they always bottle tha same 2 whiskies under the 2 "fanatsy names" I can assure You that
Glen Avon is Glenfarclas and Glen Gordon is Macallan(or there's a slight chance it's glenfarclas as well).

Re: New OB Ardbeg Single Cask bottling for £150

Personally I place a cut-off on what I want to spend. I mean I do not care so much if the whisky is distilled in 70's or 90's provided is an Ardbeg SC OB... The thing that matters to me is the price. I'm ready to spend 'till 250-290 pounds for a SC. Above that sum I'm not buying whichever cask/year ...

Yes I agree, but maybe if some rests unsold a little part of that stock might be put on sale on web site, so those (As me  ) that cannot attend to feis ile could have the chance to get a bottle without searching it on ebay(well... I do not buy whisky on ebay  )

Re: ARDBEG MOR MADNESS

Uhm I'm missing the point... I'm not a marketing guru but in my view I'd rather prefer to sell a cask quickly(and anyway at a good price as it was)and then to have the chance to sell another. Now unless they've very little stock left I imagine they won't be able to put another SC on sale on the web ...
