Re: What's your latest bottle opened?

Caol Ila Moch.

Beautiful distinct Caol Ila nose/taste yet soft and with some sweetness, honey and caramel. Its moderateness makes it a very nice every day Islay, no matter the time of day (well, after noon that is).

For less than €30 an absolute no-brainer!

Re: What is your most recent (whisky) purchase.

A Black Bottle 10 while they're still available and a Bunnahabhain 12 since the only BB10 they I had already grabbed. Never tasted the Bunnahabhain before as a single malt but I know it's where my beloved BB is made of for the bigger part so :iwbrnt:

Re: The World Atlas of Whisky by Dave Broom

I bought this book one month ago an have been enjoying it every time I read part of it (having 2 kids aged 2 and 4 running around is fun but doesn't help finding any spare time). The illustrations blow me away since I am a (landscape) photo addict! I recommend this book to anyone, no matter how many...

Re: What's your latest bottle kill?

Black Bottle no year (I think it is 5YO). I love this blend!

Tomorrow I'll go find its 10 YO brother and buy a couple of them while they're still available. If it's unfindable, the "no year" will be bought again (among others).

Well Ian, I ordered a copy from Amazon as well along with Whiskypedia: A Compendium of Scottish Whisky (Charles MacLean), Peat Smoke and Spirit: A Portrait of Islay and its Whiskies (Andrew Jefford), The World Atlas of Whisky (Dave Broom).

I couldn't resist the bottle of Te Bheag I ran into this afternoon.

A classic "bang for the buck" blend that simply deserves a permanent seat on your shelf.

Re: What is your most recent (whisky) purchase.

Today I received a Nikka - From the Barrel (it looks like an eau de toilette box) and a Laphroaig - Quarter Cask, that I will open tonight since my hopes are high after reading its reviews.

Re: What are you drinking now?

Black Bottle no age. Very (very) nice blend I must say, especially considering its retail price (I bought it on sale for € 14,95), though in every experience (nose, palate and finish) not as explicit as the average Islay single malt (for the unknown, the BB contains among others malts of 7 distillle...

Ok, great to see you bought it for drinking purposes. I hope you find your very fine day. :)

My embarassement was just related to your purchase and not intended literally. Buying whisky on sale is twice a happiness. :D

That's serious money Johan, I hope it's worth every € spent. Or is it an investment?

I'm almost embarassed to say that I just came home with a Black Bottle (was even on sale) and a bottle of Cragganmore 12.

However being mortified while drinking (a couple of) them is another thing. :)

But of course it is best to enjoy them and newer drams for many more years.

Re: What is your most recent (whisky) purchase.

Lagavulin 16.

It had to "compete" with the Talisker 10 and the Cragganmore 12, which were also on sale. I will probably buy the Talisker and Cragganmore as well next week, since the Talisker remains on of my ol' time favorites and I am curious about the Cragganmore.

Hello from Fii-Wi

Hello fellow malt lovers, let me introduce myself. I am Steven from the Netherlands, and I have been reading this forum for about 4 weeks now and couldn't resist joining you. I am 39 and have been affected by the single malt virus for 10 years now, although I must admit that of some of those years i...
