Lex, you are absolutly correct on the blind tast test issue. One cannot help but have preconceived ideas and it really would be good to know if blind or not.

The issue published in Jan (issue 14)just hit our newstand in Phila PA today. It would help if you could put something in each magizine as to when the next issue is to be published. We would then not get too anxious waiting for the next issue. As best I can tell it takes anywhere from 6 to 7 weeks f...

I think Lex is right about the tasting notes that we have today but not then. Also, I think Barnard was interested in showing just how important the whisky industry was to the tax base fof the UK at that time and that taste of the product was not really a factor in what he was trying to show. Even s...

Yogi, I exagerate, most didtilleries are not in Dufftown but a good many are in the Dufftown area. With regard to accammodation all you need to do is put in "Dufftown" into your search engine and you will find out all that is worht knowing about Dufftown.

Yogi, I do not know about the steam railroad but most of the distillieries are in the Dufftown. For accomadations put into your search engine 'Dufftown Accomadations" and you will get them all. The Errolbank Guest House was great but they had a shared bathroom with other guests. Jean Smart is t...

Martin, I do not know how many copies that Mainstream printed but the book is very hard to find in any edition but the "abridged" copy. I have two copies of that edition and it is poorly done with some of the print being very faint and impossible to read. A few years ago I wrote to Mainstr...

Lex, I have just received the Dave Broom book and it is a nice volume. There are plenty of pictures and like you say the difference in this book and the many others that have been published in the last 15 or 20 years is its emphises on the people that actually make the whisky and not just Single Mal...

David, I agree with Lex. A little whisky, properly sellected, with food is just fine. If it is over done however you wind up spoiling both.

Within the last couple of days it has come to my attention that the Moss, Hume book "The Making of Scotch Whisky" has just been revised a printed by Canongate (Canongate.net). This book was originally published in the early 80's and it has become very difficult to find, until now. You can ...
